Speed is designed in advance
Crisis communication is not mainly about writing quickly. It is about knowing who decides, which facts are verified, which audiences matter, which channels are trusted and what can be said before every detail is known.
Build the first hour before you need it
A practical readiness system includes issue scenarios, escalation triggers, decision owners, contact trees, holding-statement structures, stakeholder priorities, spokesperson preparation and a source-of-truth process.
Red-team the obvious failure modes
What would a journalist ask first? What would employees hear second-hand? What would a regulator care about? Which line could be read as evasive? What evidence would we need before making the strongest reassurance?
AI can accelerate, not own, the response
Augmentation can compare scenarios, surface inconsistencies, draft variants and pressure-test wording. The factual judgement, legal context and release decision remain human. In a crisis, fluency without accountability is a liability.
